Zen City Foundation Pay Transparency Policy

Purpose

At Zen City Foundation, we believe that fairness and trust are essential to our mission as an educational nonprofit. Pay transparency supports these values by ensuring that all staff understand how compensation is determined and managed. This policy outlines our approach to transparency, equity, and respect regarding teacher pay.

Guiding Principles

  1. Fairness – All teachers are compensated based on clear criteria such as qualifications, teaching experience, subject expertise, responsibilities, and commitment to our programs.

  2. Openness – We are committed to being open about pay structures. Pay rates are not hidden in our systems, and staff have access to view them as part of our commitment to transparency.

  3. Respect – While we encourage open dialogue, we also ask that staff respect each other’s privacy and professionalism when discussing pay.

Pay Transparency in Practice

  • Clockify Tracking: Our teachers use Clockify to track teaching hours. The system automatically shows pay rates associated with each teacher’s profile. Zen City Foundation does not restrict this feature, as it reflects our value of openness.

  • Compensation Criteria: Teacher pay is set according to established guidelines that include experience, qualifications, performance, and program needs. These guidelines are applied consistently across all staff.

  • Equal Treatment: We do not discriminate in setting pay rates based on gender, ethnicity, religion, or other personal characteristics.

Rights and Responsibilities

  • ​Staff Rights: Teachers have the right to know how pay is determined and to openly discuss pay matters if they wish.

  • Staff Responsibilities: Teachers are expected to handle compensation discussions respectfully and professionally, avoiding comparisons that may harm team morale.

  • Leadership Responsibility: Management will review compensation practices regularly to ensure fairness and compliance with labor laws in both the United States and Vietnam.
